Spring 2025 RRCU Chronicle
Loan Relationship Pricing, TAMU-T Tuition Discount and More!

Letter from our CEO
Dear Members:
Red River’s digital transformation is advancing rapidly as we prepare for the core system conversion scheduled for the weekend of April 4th through 7th. Our core conversion team has dedicated over a year of hard work to ensure the success of this transition, and our staff has been diligently training on the new software. This state-of-the-art technology will enable us to roll out enhanced financial tools designed to improve your experience, including faster account openings, simplified loan applications, seamless payment options, and advanced fraud prevention features, among others. Both our board and staff are excited to usher in this new era of banking at RRCU.
One area of ongoing concern is the persistent threat of fraud that continues to target our members. While we are fortunate to intercept most fraudulent activity, there are occasions when some attempts make it through. We need your help in protecting your accounts. Text message scams are becoming more prevalent. If you receive a suspicious text, please carefully examine the web address provided. It is likely unfamiliar and may include "Red River CU" or "RRCU" embedded within it. Similarly, fraudulent calls may appear to come from RRCU, but it’s always best to hang up and call us directly at 903-735-300 to ensure the number hasn't been spoofed. Additionally, we encourage you to access your account using your standard, secure methods rather than trusting unsolicited links or phone calls. Taking these precautions will help prevent significant inconvenience and potential financial loss.
As we continue to move forward this year, you’ll also notice our staff actively engaging with and supporting local events. Our commitment to giving back to the communities we serve remains a cornerstone of our vision and culture. If you happen to be at one of these events, please stop by to connect with our dedicated team.
Lastly, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your continued trust and support of Red River Credit Union as your financial partner. Our vision—"We Are Here for You in All Stages of Life"—remains at the core of everything we do. I wish you a safe and enjoyable summer.
Sincerely,
Brad Bailey
CEO

Non-Visa Debit Transaction Disclosure
Red River Employees Credit Union has enabled non-Visa debit transaction processing. This means you may use your Visa-branded debit card on a PIN-Debit Network* (a non-Visa network) without using a PIN.
The non-Visa debit network for which such transactions are enabled is Accel.
Examples of the types of actions that you may be required to make to initiate a Visa transaction on your Visa-branded debit card include: signing a receipt, providing a card number over the phone or via the Internet, or swiping the card through a point-of-sale terminal.
Examples of the types of actions you may be required to make to initiate a transaction on a PIN-Debit Network include: initiating a payment directly with the biller (possibly via telephone, internet or kiosk locations), responding to a logo displayed at a payment site and choosing to direct payment through that network and having your identity verified using known information derived from an existing relationship with you instead of through the use of a PIN.
The provision of your agreement with us relating only to Visa transactions is not applicable to non-Visa transactions. For example, the additional limits on liability (sometimes referred to as Visa’s zero-liability program) and the streamlined error resolution procedures offered on Visa debit card transactions are not applicable to transactions processed on a PIN-Debit Network.
*Visa Rules generally define PIN-Debit Network as a non-Visa debit network that typically authenticates transactions by use of a personal identification number (PIN) but that is not generally known for having a card program.

How to Spot Fraud and Protect Yourself
Scammers use evolving tactics like smishing (fraudulent texts), phishing (emails with suspicious links), vishing (impersonation calls), and social media or e-commerce scams to deceive individuals and businesses.
What to Look For:
- Urgent texts or emails with links or threats.
- Impersonation calls from "legitimate" companies like the IRS.
- Fake websites or social media profiles.
How to Avoid Fraud:
- Verify senders, links, and contact info. Hover over links to check validity.
- Use strong, unique passwords and enable two-factor authentication (2FA).
- Monitor accounts for unusual activity and set up transaction alerts.
- Avoid public Wi-Fi for sensitive tasks and keep devices secure with antivirus software.
Stay Alert:
Be cautious of job offers, online relationships, or investments that involve moving money. Protect your information and verify legitimacy before acting. Click here for more!
