International Credit Union Day is Coming

Celebrate "A Steady Signal in a Noisy World" on International Credit Union (ICU) Day® 2026 

On Thursday, October 15th, credit union members around the world will celebrate International Credit Union Day®, an annual event to commemorate the credit union movement’s impact and achievements. This year marks the 78th anniversary of this annual event, which will be celebrated under the theme of “A Steady Signal in a Noisy World”.

Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives that provide an effective and viable alternative to for-profit financial institutions for more than 400 million members in over 100 countries worldwide. More than 67,000 credit unions exist globally, providing a variety of financial services for their members, recognized as a force for positive economic and social change.

Since 1948, International Credit Union Day® has been celebrated annually on the third Thursday of October. Each year, the international event affords the opportunity to remember credit unions’ proud history and promote awareness of and support for the credit union and financial cooperative difference.

There are still 1.3 billion people across the globe who are unbanked. Credit unions truly have the perfect business model to serve underserved populations and that is a message we hope our entire global movement will celebrate and promote on Thursday, October 15.

International Credit Union Day is organized by World Council of Credit Unions, the global trade association and development platform for credit unions and other financial cooperatives, as well as numerous national credit union trade associations and federations around the world.

On Oct. 15th, RRCU will host a Member Appreciation Day with refreshments in our branch lobbies. Our Summerhill branch in Texarkana, TX will also host a Shred Day from 2 PM to 5 PM (service provided by Opportunities, Inc. and ShredIT Txk). We hope to see you at one of our locations!

Medicare Open Enrollment Is Coming! Are You Ready?

We have recently become aware of several fraudulent websites and domains that have been created to imitate legitimate RRCU websites and communications. These deceptive sites are designed to appear authentic and may be used in phishing campaigns targeting members in an attempt to obtain sensitive personal or financial information.

As cybercriminals continue to use increasingly sophisticated tactics, it is important for members to remain vigilant and take extra precautions when accessing online banking services or responding to communications that appear to come from RRCU.

How Members Can Stay Safe

To help protect against potential fraud, we encourage members to follow these best practices:

• Access RRCU services only through our official website and mobile app.
• Avoid clicking links received through unsolicited emails, text messages, or social media messages.
• Verify the legitimacy of any communication that appears to come from RRCU before providing account credentials or personal information.
• Report suspicious emails, text messages, websites, or other communications to RRCU immediately.

Community Corner

RRCU employees, including several branch team members, brought the new TEAL on Wheels to Texas A&M University-Texarkana's Move-In Day. The team welcomed incoming freshmen by helping families move into dorms and distributing laundry bags to students. RRCU also participated in the university's "Best Week Ever," connecting with students and supporting campus events throughout the week.
