Fall 2025 RRCU Chronicle

CEO Report
Message from the CEO
To Members,
I’m excited to begin with an update on our transformative partnership with A&M Texarkana. After thoughtful consideration and extensive negotiations, RRCU secured naming rights for both the new Football Stadium and the Center for Financial Literacy and Investment—alongside our investment in the University’s new Athletic Complex. This collaboration is more than a sponsorship; it’s a strategic alliance that will shape the future of Texarkana and throughout our field of membership, with RRCU playing a central role.
Here's how this partnership directly benefits you as a member:
- Save Thousands on Tuition: Members who maintain a $500 direct deposit or complete at least four debit card transactions per month receive a 33% discount on tuition at A&M Texarkana—making higher education dramatically more affordable.
- Free Financial Literacy Resources: All members gain complimentary access to the new Center for Financial Literacy, empowering you with tools for smarter financial decisions.
- Tax Season Support: Enjoy free tax preparation at many RRCU branch locations during tax season. More details will be shared early next year.
Exclusive Game Day Perks: Join us for RRCU Game Day with discounted tickets and member-only activities throughout the day. - On-Campus Convenience: A new kiosk and ITM will be available in the University complex for easy access to your accounts.
- Curriculum Collaboration: RRCU is working directly with the University to develop and promote financial education programs, ensuring long-term impact for students and the community.
With a large portion of our membership based in the Texarkana region, this partnership is a powerful step toward regional growth and prosperity.
As we look ahead, I want to remind everyone to stay alert to potential fraud. Criminals are increasingly targeting account holders at financial institutions with deceptive texts, emails, and phone calls. If you ever receive a suspicious or unexpected message claiming to be from RRCU, please call our main number or visit a branch. We’re continually enhancing our systems to detect fraud and protect your money—so you can bank with confidence. Your ongoing caution plays a vital role in keeping your accounts secure.
Wishing you a joyful fall and holiday season. Thank you for being a valued member of RRCU.
Warm regards,
Bradley Bailey
President/CEO

International Credit Union Day
International Credit Union Day is Coming
Celebrate "Cooperation for a Prosperous World" on International Credit Union (ICU) Day® 2025
On Thursday, October 16th, credit unions in our community and worldwide will come together to celebrate International Credit Union Day® and the role that financial cooperatives play in improving the communities they serve and the lives of their members. This year’s theme is “Cooperation for a Prosperous World”. With the United Nations declaring 2025 the International Year of Cooperatives under the theme “Building a Better World Together”, the ICU Day 2025 theme purposefully mirrors that to promote the ways credit unions help people across the globe achieve more prosperity and well-being through cooperative finance.
ICU Day 2025 is a celebration of the impact credit unions and other financial cooperatives have made—and continue to make for their members. It is also a chance to be thankful for the lives and communities that have been improved by our movement.
All credit unions share a common goal to offer access to affordable financial services to their members and provide even the most financially disadvantaged the tools and the opportunities to be financially self-sufficient. Making life choices and dreams a reality is the credit union difference that makes a real impact in our world.
Credit unions are unique because they are not-for-profit, democratically controlled, member-owned cooperatives. Credit unions pool their members’ assets to provide low-cost loans and other financial services in the best interest of the members, not to earn shareholder profits. The credit union movement’s cooperative spirit is embraced by 411 million members served by more than 74,000 credit unions in 104 countries worldwide.
Stellar member service and democratic control are just some of the many benefits of being a credit union or cooperative member. That is as true of credit unions in our field of membership as it is in other cooperatively owned financial institutions from Armenia to Zimbabwe. Credit unions and other financial cooperatives are founded on community service, a principle that has set them apart for more than 150 years.
This year we celebrate 77 years of International Credit Union Day®. We hope everyone will join us in celebrating the credit union difference, our proud cooperative heritage and the wonderful opportunities credit unions and other financial cooperatives offer members of our community every day.
On Oct. 16th, RRCU will host a Member Appreciation Day with refreshments in our branch lobbies. Our Summerhill branch in Texarkana, TX will also host a Shred Day from 2PM to 5PM (service provided by Sustainable Services). We hope to see you at one of our locations!

Fraud
RRCU Fraud Fighter’s Handbook
Staying educated on fraud scams is one of the best ways to protect yourself from becoming a victim. Of nearly 2.4 million fraud reports made in recent years, 26% indicated money was lost. An important aspect of fraud prevention is staying aware of current scams, because fraudsters are constantly finding new and different ways to trick people out of money.
Fraudsters Target the Weakest Link: Humans
Using common channels like emails, text, and phone calls, fraudsters typically disguise their identity while retrieving confidential member information. They use tactics to succeed by tugging at the basic human instinct to trust and please. Scams are designed to catch people off-guard because that is when they are more likely to make security mistakes, give away sensitive information, or even send money.
Regardless of the channel used, fraudsters are crafty. They use innovative schemes to pressure people into making decisions on the spot. Their multi-channel approach looks for victims who find their stories convincing because it increases the odds a victim will voluntarily click on links or share sensitive information. This information can be used to authorize and transact many types of transactions.
Detection, Prevention and Protection
Scams are often hard to detect at a quick glance; however, these common red flags can help. Keep in mind…it is not uncommon for fraudsters to use intimidation tactics and urgent requests.
We encourage members to follow the tips below:
- Don’t always trust the name. Criminals will spoof an email name to appear to be a legitimate sender.
- Check for misspelled words, bad grammar, and/or typos in messages.
- Be cautious of clicking links and opening attachments. Don’t click unless you are confident of the sender or are expecting the attachment.
- Do not provide personal or account information on social media platforms. Doing so could provide the necessary information to impersonate you or answer some challenge questions.
- Be suspicious of “urgent” or “immediate” response needed or “unauthorized login attempt” messages. If you have signed up to receive specific notifications, make sure you are familiar with the sender and the content. Even if you have signed up, always use caution.
- If something seems suspicious, contact the source with a new email or phone call, rather than just responding directly to the email, text, or call.
- Never share anything related to your credit union account, transactional history, or identifying information in an unprotected forum or by sending with an unprotected method.
- Check for new Fraud Alert notifications at www.rrcu.com, our mobile app, and on RRCU’s social media.
RRCU is committed to educating members on fraud, because knowledge gives you the power to take action. As fraudsters get more sophisticated in the ways they exploit technology and humans, it is even more important to know what to look for, take the right actions, and remain vigilant.
