Dear Members,

As we transition into the fall season, I want to take a moment to reflect on the progress we've made and share some exciting updates with you.

First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for your continued trust and support. Our credit union has grown significantly over the past year, and it's all thanks to our dedicated members and hardworking team. We’ve expanded our services and enhanced our digital platforms to better meet your needs.

We recently opened our Bossier City, LA branch, which features one of our new designs and is truly beautiful. We are also in the process of opening a branch in Idabel, OK, which will follow the new design and should be ready by the end of the year. Additionally, we are replacing our De Queen, AR branch with a newer, much larger location. As you can see, we continue to grow and expand into new areas, fulfilling one of our core missions: Helping members in underserved areas meet their financial needs.

Cybersecurity remains a top priority for us. We’ve implemented robust measures to protect your personal information and secure our digital platforms. Our team continuously monitors and updates our systems to safeguard your data.

International Credit Union Day

International Credit Union Day is Coming

Celebrate "One World Through Cooperative Finance" on International Credit Union Day® with RRCU! 

On Oct. 17, 2024, RRCU and credit union members around the world will celebrate International Credit Union Day®, an annual event to commemorate the credit union movement’s impact and achievements. This year marks the 76th anniversary of this annual event, which will be celebrated under the theme of "One World Through Cooperative Finance".

Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives that provide an effective and viable alternative to for-profit financial institutions for more than 403 million members in 98 countries worldwide. More than 82,000 credit unions exist globally, providing a plethora of financial services for their members, recognized as a force for positive economic and social change. Red River Employees Federal Credit Union (RRCU) is over 120,000 Members strong with $1.4 Billion in assets.

Since 1948, International Credit Union Day has been celebrated annually on the third Thursday of October. Each year, the international event affords the opportunity to remember credit unions’ proud history and promote awareness of and support for the credit union and financial cooperative difference.

There are still 1.4 billion people across the globe who are unbanked. Credit unions truly have the perfect business model to serve underserved populations and that is a message we hope our entire global movement will celebrate and promote on Thursday, October 17.

International Credit Union Day is recognized by the World Council of Credit Unions, the global trade association and development platform for credit unions and other financial cooperatives, as well as numerous national credit union trade associations and federations around the world.

On Oct. 17, RRCU will host a Member Appreciation Day with refreshments in our branch lobbies. Our Summerhill branch in Texarkana, TX will also host a Shred Day from 2PM to 5PM (service provided by Sustainable Services). We hope to see you at one of our locations!

As we enter Fall 2024, the new year is set to bring significant changes to Medicare plans due to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) of 2022. One of the key changes for 2025 will focus on prescription drug coverage, with out-of-pocket costs capped at $2,000. This new legislation aims to enhance Medicare by expanding benefits, reducing drug costs, stabilizing prescription drug premiums, and strengthening the program overall.  This is particularly positive for those facing high out-of-pocket expenses for their medications. Alongside these updates, we expect that companies offering drug coverage will also make adjustments of their own, which may include increases in plan costs and changes to the tier placements of certain prescription drugs. Given these changes, it’s essential to compare your current plan with the options available for the upcoming year.
